This has been a valuable source of information, if you know where to find it! Most documents are viewable in PDF format
and in some cases are large, therefore can take sometime to download. Interesting data can be sought under the
Transport Planning
section where you will find details on the Cross Valley Link Road, Sandy Lane Releif Road and Sandy Lane Improvements North
as well as the Local Transport Plan 2006-11. This is a large document broken down into sections, some very useful figures.
It is worth noting that the elected councillors to the council for this area are
Judy Shephard for Moulton,
John Yates for Boughton Green, and
Sally Beardsworth for Kingsthorpe.
Buckton Fields falls under the juristiction of the DDC, specifically the Boughton and Pitsford ward, whose elected councillor
is John Shephard. DDC's website seems to have a
few 'cicular' issues although there are some useful links, in particular the
Planning Policy Guidance (PPG) notes page
provides valuable links to the environment agency; these provide guidelines for councils, PPG2 for example refers to development on
greenbelt land, and was responsible in part for the original Ensign application being rejected by DDC.
The WNJPU was first publicised in early September 2007. It was set up by the three councils representing the area of west Northamptonshire,
Northampton Borough, Daventry District and South Northamptonshire, to present a co-ordinated approach to development in this area. Due to
new legistation by the government, planning of new developments have to involve a degree of public consultation and in September the WNJPU
launched their Joint Core Strategy: Issues and Options consultation with the public involving a travelling exhibition, press coverage and
a questionnaire for the public to complete. Apparently their findings will go on to form the basis for future development in West
Northamptonshire in conjunction with the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation, who will implement these plans.
This is an un-elected governmentally appointed body, called a quango. Since March 2006 it has effectly removed the power of granting planning permission
from the three local councils in the areas it overseas, termed Urban Development Areas (UDA's). Buckton Fields falls outside of the Northampton UDA and
therefore the Planning application will be decided by the elected councillors that make up the DDC planning committee.
